
A vibrant discussion group takes place every second Friday of the month. No specialised knowledge is required in order to attend and the meetings are informal, informative and friendly. Feel free to come along as a regular or when a particular topic appeals to you.
Arts and Culture Appreciation is a group who wish to pursue their interest in arts and culture - studying paintings, photographs, textiles, sculpture, architecture, theatre, music, as well as exploring different world cultures. There is a varied programme of events and visits to places of interest.

In July we visited the local Our Lady of the Wayside church in Shirley to view a selection of sculptures.

Murals started with cave paintings. Since then artists have used this medium to express themselves and opinions about the world and humanity.

| Friday, June 13th 2025 | Instrumentalists | We will explore the work of some of the world’s talented instrumentalists, whether strings, keyboard, wind or percussion. Members will share a bit about them and a sample of their music. Meet at Collette’s house for 11 am. |

Friday, May 8th 2026. | Twentieth Century Poets Art and Culture from the Far East Indigenous Art | The Twentieth Century produced a vast array of talented Poets encompassing diverse styles. Members are invited to explore the life of a poet of choice and share one of their poems. Meet at Collette's house at 11am. Members are asked to select an aspect of Art or Culture from Far Eastern countries such as China, Japan or Indonesia and to share their learning with the group. Meet at Collette’s house for 11am. Art often carries narratives, histories and cultural identity through pottery, carvings, textiles etc. America, Australia, NZ, Africa. Meet at Collette’s house for 11am. |
