Join us for a tour of one of the biggest sewage treatment plants in Europe. Dealing with sewage of some 1.8 million people. See how dirty and run-off water flows into a hugh inlet before being filtered and treated then let back into the environment via rivers and water sources. Litter and debris have to be cleared out of this water while fats, oils and grease also cause problems.

Itinerary:

9:15am leave Solihull Station Approach near the Methodist Church.

10:00am tour of the water treatment plant.

12:30pm leave for lunch venue

1:00pm Lunch at the White Horse Inn in Curdworth

3:00pm Depart for return to Solihull

Note that this tour is primarily OUTDOORS and involves a significant amount of walking to follow the treatment process—from the inlet works to the discharge point at the River Tame. Many sections of the plant utilise raised metal-grated platforms and industrial staircases for viewing. These can be challenging for those with limited mobility or a fear of heights. Sturdy shoes will be required. Additionally, if it is a rainy day, please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella or hooded jacket.
