Travel by coach to the Royal Hospital Chelsea, which was established in 1682 by King Charles 2nd. and designed by Sir Christopher Wren. It houses around 300 veterans known as the Chelsea Pensioners. It has been a sanctuary for veterans since 1692 offering care and comradeship in recognition of their loyal service to the nation. The iconic Grade1 site combines historic architecture, gardens and living quarters offering insights into military history and veteran life.
Itinerary for the day:
8am we leave from Solihull Station Approach.
Coffee stop on the way.
12pm-12 30pm arrive at Soane Stable Yard (depending on traffic)
1pm. Reserved seating in the cafe where lunch can be purchased.
2 30pm. - 90 minute guided tour of the hospital by a Chelsea Pensioner.
4 30pm leave for Solihull.
